The effects of the extract on hexobarbitone-induced sleep, BSP clearance, and on certain biochemical parameters indicated its protective role. There was no effect on bile flow. The extract did not show any signs of toxicity and the minimum lethal dose was greater than 2.0 g/kg p.o. in mice.
